HDFC Balanced Advantage Fund with an AUM of Rs 44,345 as of 30th November 2019, is the one of the largest hybrid fund in the industry*.
HDFC Balanced Advantage Fund is a hybrid fund which invests in both, equity (minimum 65% and maximum 100%) and debt instruments (minimum 0% and maximum 35%). Current Asset allocation is 82% equities and 18% debt securities and money market instruments as of 30th November 2019.
The scheme aims to achieve dual objective of growth of capital through equities and stability of capital through debt. The scheme follows a multi-cap equity strategy with a flexibility to invest in companies across market capitalization. The scheme focuses on good quality companies while maintaining effective diversification of portfolio. The scheme’s portfolio duration is actively managed based on outlook for interest rates with a 2-3 year view with a preference for good credit quality.
Fund Manager of HDFC Balanced Advantage Fund since the inception i.e. 1994 (inception date of HDFC Prudence Fund) has been Mr. Prashant Jain. Mr. Prashant Jain has been managing the Fund for more than 25 years, the longest for any fund by a fund manager in India.
HDFC Balanced Advantage Fund has sailed through events like the Asian crisis of the late 1990s, the tech bubble in 2000, several elections, Lehman crisis, scams like 2G, coal, etc. and recent global events like the China slowdown, PIIGS, the Greece crisis, US-China Trade War etc.
